The next meeting of Sustainable Haddon Township (SHT) will be held at the Environmental Center on Ormond Avenue, Haddon Township on Wednesday, February 20.  We will begin promptly at 6pm and must be finished by 7pm.

The following are items to be discussed:

  1. Update on the community garden hoping to break ground in March.
  2. Beginning to work on our second initiative for the year—Greening Our Local Restaurants.  Two people are needed to step up and volunteer to be co-chairs of this interesting task force.
  3. One or two volunteers to sit at the SHT table for the March 17 open house at the Environmental Center from 1-5.
  4. Volunteers to work the HT Green Event on April 20 from 10-2.  The more we have, we can shorten your time to work.
  5. Gwenne would like to try children’s clothes and toy swap at the Green Event.  Two co-chairs are needed for this.  This would involve some pre-event sorting of the items, and working the table at the event.
  6. Update on changing the “chicken ordinance” in town.  It is a possibility that we may be able to participate in a pilot program if enough residents are interested in having a few hens in their backyard, no roosters.  The exact number has not been decided.  In order to even try the pilot program, Gwenne needs to know if any of you are willing to possibly give it a try.
  7. Update on Westmont Farmers’ Market beginning in May.
  8. Terracycle.

If you plan to attend the meeting, please email Gwenne your RSVP.  If you cannot attend but are interested in either volunteering to be co-chairs or work on any of the above activities, please let her know via email at Gbaile@verizon.net  or phone at  856-858-6644 or if you have any additional questions about these items.  Hope to see you on the 20th.

Thank you so much.
